The Nobeltec dongle is a small hardware device that attaches to your computer. The dongle is used as a security device for the Nobeltec software and for all charts that are produced by certain hydrographic offices outside of the United States. Each dongle comes programmed with a 20-digit serial number which is labeled on the outside. All non-US chart sales require an unlock code/permit that is tied to the Dongle serial number.
The Nobeltec Dongle Comes In Two Forms
USB Dongle
Connects to any 1.0, 1.1 or 2.0 USB port. The USB dongle is a great solution for most computers.
Parallel Dongle
Twenty-five pin connector that attaches to your computers parallel port (typically used for the printer.) This low profile hardware piece is better for rough environments; however, many newer computers do not come with parallel ports.
Installation Note Both dongles require that a special software driver be installed prior to their connection to your computer. The software driver is usually automatically loaded as part of the Nobeltec 7.0 software installation. However, if you are missing this driver, it can be downloaded using the link below.
Note The dongle driver install program will offer two installation types. One is for the Parallel port dongle (25 pin, low profile design) and the standard USB dongle. Only select to install the dongle driver that you need as additional (unused) drivers can cause performance issues with Nobeltec software.
