Why do I need a Site Key?

As part of your licensing agreement, you are entitled to place the software on a total of three computers at one time. The site key system is used to monitor this part of the licensing agreement. Upon opening and installing the software, each serial number is limited to a total of three site keys. In addition, activation of software by use of a site key is required by various hydrographic offices around the world.

How do I get a Site Key?

After installing your Nobeltec software, you will have 30 days to obtain a site key to secure your program. If you have not retrieved a site key, a dialogue box will appear when you open your program and it will tell you the number of days you have remaining to obtain your site key. After 30 days, the program will not open until a site key has been obtained. The three ways in which you can obtain a site key which are:

1. Automatically through an Internet connection – If your computer is connected to the Internet, select this option and your Nobeltec software will use your connection to obtain the site key automatically.
2. Obtain it using another computer with Internet access. If the computer you installed your Nobeltec software on does not have Internet access for automated site key retrieval, you can use another computer with Internet access to retrieve your site key manually. To use this option go to www.nobeltec.com/activation and enter the necessary information.
3. Contact Jeppesen Marine by telephone – If you do not have Internet access on any of your computers, you can obtain a site key by calling Jeppesen Marine at (800) 946-2877. If you use this option, make sure to have your serial number and site code available.

Why can’t I use the same Site Key for all three computers?

Each time Nobeltec software is installed on a new computer, a different site code is generated to your serial number. Due to the fact that we use the site code and serial number to generate your site key, each machine requires its own unique key. Once a site key has been entered into a computer, it is stored there permanently. However, if you reformat your hard drive or if you perform a hard-uninstall with one of our technicians, you will need to obtain another site key for that machine after re-installing the software.

What do I do if I sell my computer and buy another?

If you have a Nobeltec Navigation software program loaded onto a computer, contact the Nobeltec Tech Support Department before selling the computer. They will walk you through a hard-uninstallation of the software and increase your site key limit by one. A hard-uninstall is our way of verifying that the software was removed, and it is not the same as simply using the “Add/Remove Programs” option on your computer.
