FEATURE EVENT 2007 FUBAR Odyssey
Bob Vincent skippers David Bosse's Symbol 45 EZ Spirit (above) in the 2007 FUBAR Odyssey. Bob Vincent, who is embarking on the FUBAR Odyssey from San Diego to La Paz, Mexico, as he skippers David Bosse's Symbol 45 EZ Spirit, shares his thoughts on fuel efficiency and provides a hull speed calculator for download.
Jeppesen Marine provided Passport Deluxe Charts for Bob's exciting adventure, which he loaded prior to departure on the EZ Spirit.
Excerpt from Bob's Blog:
"My name is Bob Vincent, and this is my first posting on this blog. I tell people who will listen that I am (was) a pilot by trade, but a boat-a-holic by nature.
I am the skipper of the M/V EZ Spirit, a 1986 45-foot Symbol powered by a pair of 2,300 hour 3208 Turbo Cats. The owner, David Bosse, and I have been working very hard together to get the boat into "cruise-ready condition." Since my forced (age 60) retirement last week, I have been working every day on a boat that has not gone north of Long Beach/Catalina Island or south of Ensenada since it was purchased 10 years ago. Our to-do list seems to grow by two or more items for every item that we check off complete. I am sure that some of you know what I am talking about."
One of the first 'prizes' during the Odyssey, that everyone wanted to get their hands on, was the "Power Cruising" bag. This bag contained all of the goodies that would be needed for the "Odyssey" to begin. One of the most important items in the bag were the "official name tags and credentials" used to identify rally participants.
BOAT CHECK-IN
However, before the "Power Cruising" bag prize was given, one last, but extremely important check-in detail was required by all boats participating; completing (and passing) the "Boat Inspection". This incredible feat was accomplished by Lucas Willemse and Bob Senter on loan fr0m Northern Lights and Alaska Diesel. Here, Bob can be seen inspecting a pair of 22 year old 3208 Cats aboard EZ Spirit. These two guys had the assignment of going onboard each and every vessel, no matter what location, anchorage, marina and carrying out a "checklist type" inspection. The checklist used can be found (along with copies of all FUBAR paperwork that was required) on the www.fubarodyssey.com website.

STOCKHOLM BOAT SHOW
Here are some pictures from the 2007 Stockholm Boat Show.
Jeppesen Marine distributor, Anders Bergström, displays Nobeltec products at the show. Their new demonstration boat is on display, completely outfitted with Nobeltec equipment. We thought you might like to see Nobeltec on display in Sweden. There is a large Nobeltec logo on the sail of the boat, which you can't see at the show!
One of the pictures below (top, far left) shows Anders' other company boat outfitted with Nobeltec, which is stationed on the west coast of Sweden. Anders has one boat on each side of Sweden; two demonstration boats for two different markets.
